PEDALS, TOE CLIPS AND STRAPS GALLERY (not available for sale)- last updated 12/16/07
These pictures are of a very early version of the Campagnolo toothed (con dente) chromed steel track pedals. Note the following:
* spindles have o-ring rather than spiraled grooves to keep dirt out
* spindles do not show the threading size on the flats- it only shows "D" for right side, or "S" for left side
* threaded portion of spindles is shorter for use with chromed steel crankarms, or for early Campy alloy crankarms with dustcaps on the back side of each arm
* "PATENT CAMPAGNOLO" is a different typeface/font style from other versions, (see below)
* bearing cones have the words "BREV.o CAMP" with the small "o" and the open "C"
* inboard end of the spindles are nicely finished and chromed, unlike many later versions of Campy pedals
Three different versions of the con dente pedals. The bottom version has a different typeface for the words, and has the shortest threaded portion of the spindle. The middle version has a slightly longer threaded portion of the spindle (and more common typeface). the top version has the more common longest threaded portion of the spindle.
The above pedal dust caps are all different- aluminum alloy with words that are farther out from the center and an oval "O"; chromed steel with the words very close to the center and an oval "O"; chromed steel with words slightly farther out from the center and a round "O"; chromed steel with words that are oriented differently than the preceding versions (upside down "PATENT") and a round "O".
First generation Campy Gran Sport pedals. Note that the threaded portion of the axles is shorter than later versions. This is because, a) most cranks of the era, (c. 1958) were steel, and thinner than later aluminum alloy cranks, and b) the alloy Campy cranks available at the time were thinner with dust caps on the back side of the pedal holes. Shorter threads were required. Also note the chromed steel pedal dustcaps are different from later versions in the shape of the letters, but more importantly, the words read in such a way that the word "PATENT" is "upside down" compared to later versions.

The first 2 pics show the earliest version Campagnolo Super Legere, (SL - "Super Light") pedals. Note that there is no reinforcing bulge at the rearmost openings in the black cage. The third pic shows the bulge on a later version. The 4th pic shows the box that was used before the SL version that has been "retrofitted" for use with the fancy new SL pedals.
